Customer Reviews Joshua B. Anderson Said: Excellent for use as a home theater ( Sep. 23rd 2009 )I bought this to use as a home theater in a 12x13 room. I built a 88"x50" screen out of blackout cloth from a fabric store that cost $15. I can have a bright light on in the room and still watch TV clearly. The picture quality is more than satisfactory. You will not be disappointed with this projector.Jeffrey Harris Said: Reliable projector ( Mar. 19th 2009 )I am a teacher and we use these projectors at my school. I do all my lessons on PowerPoint and then project them. My projector is in use about 4 or 5 hours every day and I have never had a problem with it. This is easily the most reliable and consistent piece of hardware I use at work. I have more problems with my laptop, desktop, graphing calculators, and even with my old-fashioned overhead projector (the kind that projects transparencies). I've used about two or three other models in the past and they weren't as good...one would overheat and the other one had a discolored area in the projected picture. I recommend this to anyone who needs a workhorse projector at a budget price. It's nothing fancy, by the way...you don't get a lot of bells and whistles, but if you just want to project a DVD or a presentation, this is your machine. I should mention that you will need to buy a remote if you want to click the slides on your PowerPoint. The remote they include with the projector is just sort of like the remote on your TV...it controls the projector, but will not control your laptop or other devices hooked up to the projector. This is probably obvious to most people, but when I got the projector I stupidly assumed that the remote would advance the slides on my PowerPoint. Also you will want a pair of speakers if you want to project a DVD. The device has plenty of current inputs (HDMI or DVI would be nice, but I'm not complaining). Th 2200 lumens make the device bright even in a lit classroom (after the projector has fully warmed up, of course), has a simple, but full-featured remote control and direct control on the top of the projector. The short throw can be a problem if used on a projector cart because it needs to be fairly close to the screen. I have not had any major complaints from teachers about this. It works great as a ceiling-mount. The quick on and quick off feature is especially welcome in a classroom of squirrelly students (It is on in about 1 minute and full intensity in about 2). I have one on a projector cart, so the easy off is very helpful when the device is in high demand. The other is ceiling mounted in the music classroom that also serves as a smaller assembly room. I used the RapidRun brand cabling solutions Wallplate VGA Female Rapidrun for Type A, 35FT Uxga Cable Runner Rapidrun CL2 Type A, Rapidrun S-video + Composite Video + Stereo Audio Wall Plate, and Cables To Go 50723 35ft RapidRun HT (5-COAX) Runner Cable CL2 Rated combined with a Cables To Go - 29550 - 2-Port UXGA Video Splitter Extender for very positive results.Kyle S. Said: Great Projector! ( Mar. 1st 2009 )I bought this as a projector to watch movies in my room and with my friends in the backyard and on the go. What a great projector! Very bright! I am projecting on a 10 ft by 10 ft screen. As you can see from the rest of the reviews, this is the projector for you for almost any occasion.Movie buff Said: Awesome Home Theater ( Feb. 13th 2009 )I just want to post my experience with this unit, bought it from circuit city in dec-08 for $550.00 new in box, went on ebay and ordered the 25$ mount works great,, have it in a basement room approx. 13'x15' with a 6'8" low ceiling i currently have a screen size of close to 110" diagonally, i have never owned a tv larger than 27" tube type,, This projector just blows are socks off it is like going to the theater but not with the price, i went to the pawn shop and found a used Sony 5:1 surround system for $89 and wow it makes the floors rattle, we do not have HD source for the tv so it can be a bit grainy at times but totally watchable,, projector really shines on DVD's with the s-video input it is so clear you can see the individual down feathers on birds, animated DVD's look just killer. i have heard if you go to HD source for the tv it looks as good as the DVD's do, but for a total of 700$ we have replaced going to the show house, and have some awesome family viewing times thru 6 months of winter, also will be making a portable screen for summer nights outside. Buy this if you want the theater experience, you will not be disappointed.« Back |
