E. Ryan Said: Fun but do not plan to replace your TV with this ( Nov. 11th 2009 )
I purchased 2 of these. I ended up using one for a *backyard theater* which everyone loves. I hook it up to a DVD player and project it onto an outside wall on my house. What a fun novelty, but it does have to be dark out. The other is in my guest room. My grand kids absolutely love to go to sleep with a movie playing on the ceiling over the bed! That is very easy to do with the stand that comes with it. The only thing I would change about it is the bulb. I am going to see if there is a way to replace it with something brighter
M. Gerecke Said: Video Projector ( Nov. 5th 2009 )
Read many reviews on various projectors and was hesitant to puchase because many stated poor sound or picture. We have had no problems with sound or picture and are quite pleased. We have used this for video games, movies during campouts, projecting the MN Wild game during a party and all with good results! We have had many inquiries from family and friends about where they can purchase this for neighborhood parties, family gatherings, etc. I have recommended this item to many!
ajonnala Said: Good buy if you understand the limitations ( Nov. 4th 2009 )
I don't intend to highlight the pros and cons in this review. Other reviewers have discussed fairly extensively about it. Here, I intend to share the way I am using it and my experiences. I bought the projector for [...] bucks. I didn't expect extraordinary performance. I wanted something to watch in my basement while I was running or exercising. I usually spend 1-2 hours a week exercising. My goal was to watch Cable with least investment knowing well that I didn't need an extraordinary quality. My setup: I bought a Y splitter at Radioshack and split the local cable wire. One connection was plugged to my living room TV while the other was hooked it to my old VCR. The audio/video output from my VCR was hooked to the projector. I setup the projector nearly 6 ft from the white wall and viewing distance was ~ 15 ft. Outcome/Observations: Basically I am happy. I spent less than 100 bucks to have a working system. I didn't need additional speakers as the speakers in the projector were loud enough (in spite of thumping noise from the treadmill). The image quality is acceptable (provided the room is absolutely dark). 15 ft is the optimal distance. The closer you go, the grainier the picture becomes. I hope you found this review helpful.
Akbar Gillani Said: Poor Picture Quality ( Oct. 29th 2009 )
Projected image is not at all bright and sharp. It is better to spend some more and get the projector with high power lamp.
Tamitra Said: you get what you pay for! ( Oct. 7th 2009 )
OK, sure--the room has to be pitch black, the fan is loud and the sound is not that great on its own, but i connect this little thing to my laptop or portable DVD player to create an inexpensive home theater system for the bedroom and Voila! a wonderful compliment to Netflix that, so far has worked great for the price! compared to the "real" Sony projection setup in the living room, which cost me a little over $1000--the entire setup for this cost me around $160 ($100 projector + $40 for multimedia speakers Philips MMS171-PC 2.1 Multimedia Speaker System + $20 for A/V cords and adapters VGA to RCA Component High Resolution Cable, 5ft) when it comes to movies it's just NOT going to give you that THEATER quality because it is a TOY that is supposed to be used for games--dark colors don't show up so well, but cartoons and video games look great. if you keep that in mind you will be very happy with it. BUT if you are expecting it to behave like a real projector, you must exit the Toy Department immediately :)
